Chemoselective organocatalytic aerobic oxidation of primary amines to secondary imines.

Biomimetic aerobic oxidation of primary benzylic amines has been achieved by using a quinone catalyst. Excellent selectivity is observed for primary, unbranched benzylic amines relative to secondary/tertiary amines, branched benzylic amines, and aliphatic amines. The exquisite selectivity for benzylic amines enables oxidative self-sorting within dynamic mixtures of amines and imines to afford h...

A ruthenium racemisation catalyst for the synthesis of primary amines from secondary amines.

A Ru-based half sandwich complex used in amine and alcohol racemization reactions was found to be active in the splitting of secondary amines to primary amines using NH3. Conversions up to 80% along with very high selectivities were achieved. However, after about 80% conversion the catalyst lost activity. Similar to Shvo's catalyst, the complex might deactivate under the influence of ammonia. I...

Hydroamination of terminal alkynes with secondary amines catalyzed by copper: regioselective access to amines.

A simple and convenient copper-catalyzed hydroamination of arylacetylenes with secondary amines has been performed giving a simple access to aliphatic amines after reduction of the hydroaminated products (E-enamines). Here we described a mild catalytic system utilizing CuCN precatalyst without any additive ligands in a solvent-free system.

Conversion of indolylalkylhydroxylamines to stimulant amines in vivo.

The stimulant effects due to several indolylalkylhydroxylamines in mice were shown to resemble closely in degree and in time course those of the corresponding indolylalkylamines . The hydroxylamine derivatives were shown to be inactive as inhibitors of monoamine oxidase, and of the uptake of amines in vitro, properties which had been suggested as responsible for the stimulant actions of the ami...
